Hello and greetings from all of us at The Broad Axe Tavern

I hope you all survived the record snow falls that we went through this winter. I am happy to see that many of you enjoy venturing out in the snow to get a bite to eat on the those foul weather days, and enjoy being here with us no matter what it’s like outside. Thank you to everyone who has rescheduled their events that had to be canceled because of the inclement weather. I thought that a couple of the rebooked parties were going to get hit again this past weekend, but we got lucky and got them all in.

We have a lot going on since I last spoke with you. We have added a number of new beers to our list and have a lot of well received new specials that have been featured that are more than likely going to be added to the main menu when we make the change. My favorite, and a lot of yours, has been the coconut curried mussels. A bowl of them with a glass of Urban Riesling and a big chunk of bread will put a smile on anyone’s face. Another new menu item that has been receiving accolades is the different versions of the bread pudding, my favorite being the hazel nuts with dark chocolate chunks and vanilla ice cream.

The Flower Show started this week, so it looks like we are finally getting closer to spring! I can’t wait to get into the spring menu items, such as Lamb, Asparagus, Florida Red Snapper spring, Spring Ales and Dopple Bocks and lighter wines. Easter is just around the corner and we are planning a Special menu for that day. But St. Patrick’s Day is next and we added Smithwicks Irish Red Ale and of course we will have plenty of Guinness on tap with plenty of Irish specials on the dinner menu and a live musical entertainment starting at 5:00 pm.

Look for a complete list of all our new beers and we will post the Easter menu as we get closer. Keep using the Loyalty Rewards Cards to get your $25.00 reward, free dinners, gift cards, free beers and pint glasses.

As always,
Thank you for your continued support.
Enjoy,
Matthew Doman

New Beers Draft
Spaten Optimator- .5 lt. $6.00
7.20 % ABV- The classic German dark beer-bottom fermented 'Doppel Bock'. Full bodied with a deep dark color and rich roasted malt flavor.

Sly Fox Phoenix Ale- 16oz. $5.00
5.1% ABV- A bold American Pale Ale brewed with Pale and Crystal malts and hopped with Centennial and Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest. Copper in color, medium-bodied and spicy.

Barbarian Weldspatter IPA-16oz. $6.00
7.0% ABV- Not your typical India Pale Ale. Balance is a lovely thing in beers and Weldspatter IPA achieves balance without compromising hop presence. The hop flavor and aroma abound, but the bitterness is held in check to give the IPA a pleasant malt character

Smithwick's Draught 16oz. $5.00
4.50% ABV Irish Red Ale - "Smithwick’s is Ireland’s number one ale.” Smithwick’s is produced using the finest hops and special roasted, malted barley.

Sierra Nevada Glissade 16oz. $6.00
Glissade is a remarkably mellow take on the traditional spring bock. With restrained sweetness, it emphasizes subtle malt flavor, balanced against delicate aromas of spicy and floral European hops.

Bottles
Delirium Tremens – 12 oz. $10.00 / 22 oz. $ 16.00
8.5% ABV - Belgian strong pale ale, vibrant yellow color, huge spicy fruity aroma, sweet honey fruity tones, spicy alcohol notes. True Belgian classic.

Dogfish Head Red & White- 22oz. $17.00
10 %ABV- A big, Belgian-style Wit brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with Pinot Noir juice. After fermentation a fraction of the batch is aged in Oregon Pinot Noir barrels, and another fraction is aged on oak staves. The beer is blended together before packaging. It successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a bold red wine.

Dogfish Palo Santo Marron-12oz. $9.00
12% ABV -An unfiltered, unfettered, unprecedented brown ale aged in handmade wooden brewing vessels. Highly roasty, and malty, caramel and vanilla notes

Oskar Blues DALE’S PALE ALE 12oz. Can $5.00
6.5% ABV -Dale’s Pale Ale is the first hand-canned microbrew in the U.S. Dale’s gold medal winning craft brew delivers a blast of piney citrus-edged hops and aromas of malt in the copper-colored Pale ale

MODELO ESPECIAL -12oz. $5.00
4.4% ABV- Vienna style lager, somewhat bolder Mexican beer. Sharp, tantalizing sweetness that is quite flavorful

NEGRA MODELO-12oz. $5.00
5.3% ABV- Vienna-Munich style pilsner. Light herbal bitter-chocolate, toasty dryness in the finish. It is dark, malty, sweet and contains a hint of roasted malts

Shipyard Old Thumper Special Export Ale- 12oz $5.00
5.9% ABV- This ale was created in 1979 by veteran British brewer, Peter Austin, founder of the Ringwood Brewery in Hampshire, England and mentor to Shipyard’s master brewer, Alan Pugsley. A British Grand Champion beer, Old Thumper is a non-traditional English bitter brewed in the U.S. solely by the Shipyard Brewing Co.

Young’s Double Chocolate Stout – 11.5 oz. $7.oo
5.2% ABV- Chocolate malt and real dark chocolate are combined with Young’s award winning rich, full flavored dark beer to craft a satisfyingly indulgent, but never overly sweet experience. Pale Ale, Crystal and Chocolate malts, a special blend of sugars, Fuggle and Golding hops, real dark chocolate and chocolate essence are combined to deliver a stout with real credentials. For a double dose of yummy, try it with one of our chocolate desserts.
